Apple Is Nearing A Deal To Bring ChatGPT To The iPhone



Apple is reportedly nearing a deal with OpenAI that would bring ChatGPT to the iPhone.According to Bloomberg, the two are finalizing the terms of a deal that would bring ChatGPT to iOS 18. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is also in talks with Google to potentially use its AI product, Gemini, in the iPhone; however, those discussions have yet to reach the agreement stage.Apple is reportedly planning to announce iOS 18 during its Worldwide Developers conference next month.The newest version of the operating system is expected to have a number of AI-related features.Last week we learned that Apple is considering including the ability to summarize iMessages using artificial intelligence in iOS 18. That feature would work with longer text messages and would include “all available relevant information,” including any companies, people, or locations mentioned in a text.Apple is also reportedly working on a very similar feature for Safari that would summarize webpages.

Apple is working on creating its own language model (LLM) to power its AI that can run without a web connection.  Apple is particularly interested in making the technology work without a web connection because doing so will allow the phone to respond faster as well as offer more privacy for users since requests will not need to be sent to a third party.Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is scheduled for June 10th.
