Zhiyun has announced the new Zhiyun Weebill 3E (buy here) gimbal. Designed to be as compact and lightweight as possible, it can still handle full-frame mirrorless cameras with fairly hefty lenses.
Clocking in at around 1kg, it’s also extremely compact, minimising the space it takes in your bag. It features the company’s latest stabilisation algorithms, and also supports vertical shooting.
Zhiyun Weebill 3E – Compact power
The Zhiyun Weebill 3E is an inexpensive, cut down version of the Weebill 3 ($299). It’s designed help better fit the budgets of shooters that like to stay as mobile as possible and don’t need all the bells and whistles of more expensive (larger and heaver) gimbals.
The Zhiyun Weebill 3E weighs 990g and can handle a payload of up to 3kg. This means it can handle just about any mirrorless camera and lens combo (within reason) on here and expect it to work pretty well.
It won’t be a fully loaded cage rig, but if you need a gimbal like this, you want to be mobile anyway. So, at most you’re talking a camera, lens and maybe an on-camera shotgun or a wireless mic receiver. You’ll be way under the 3kg limit.
Long battery life
Zhiyun says that the Weebill 3E will last for up to 16 hours on a fully charged battery. And if it goes flat, it’ll only take 2 hours to charge it back up using QC or 2 hours and 46 minutes using USB Power Delivery (USB-PD).
You’re able to quickly switch between the usual horizontal shooting for YouTube vlogs to vertical shooting for Shorts, Stories and Reels. You also get Bluetooth camera control with compatible cameras, allowing you to control the camera from the gimbal’s handle.
It’s nice to see Zhiyun hasn’t forgotten about gimbals with all the lights they’ve been announcing lately. It’s been nice to see the evolution of Zhiyun’s gimbals over the last eight or so years. My favourite is still the Zhiyun Weebill 2 Pro Plus kit (buy here), though.
