Apple Plans to Announce Revamped Control Center and Settings During WWDC



We’ve heard a lot about the AI plans Apple has in store for its Worldwide Developers Conference later this month; however, now we’re hearing a tiny bit more about some other announcements the company plans to make at the conference as well.In his PowerOn newsletter Sunday Bloomberg Apple reporter Mark Gurman says that Apple plans to revamp the Systems Settings app within the macOS operating system as well as the Control Center in iOS.The new Settings app will reportedly have a “cleaner” UI which will provide better organization within the app as well as improved search.Gurman says that the Control Center  will get a new music widget as well as “improvements to how it operates smart home appliances.”Additionally, Gurman says that Messages will be getting a new feature that allows you to animate individual words in a text message and that Apple plans to add new Tapback icons, those emoji style icons you can get when you long-press a message.Photos is also expected to see a UI change, and the Mail app will reportedly see “several improvements,” although what those improvements are wasn’t specified.

Of course, Apple’s biggest focus at WWDC this year is expected to be artificial intelligence. Apple is expected to announce a number of AI features specifically focused on iOS 18 including a number of features that will be powered entirely on the device without the use of the internet as well as a new integration with OpenAI.WWDC is expected to kick off on June 10th.
