Pornhub plans to block access to its site in two more states: Indiana and Kentucky. The site is making the move in response to age-verification laws that are designed to prevent children from being able to access adult websites. Pornhub already blocks access to its site in at least seven other states including Arkansas, Virginia, Mississippi, Montana, Texas, North Carolina, and Utah.According to Pornhub, it has decided to block access to its site in the states over privacy concerns. If the site was to remain active in the states, it would be required to verify users’ age by having them upload an image of their government-issued ID proving they’re over 18. While Pornhub acknowledges that it also doesn’t want younger internet users to access its site, it’s argued that collecting IDs is “putting everybody’s privacy at risk” and won’t ultimately achieve the goal the laws are after. Pornhub says device-based verification is a better solution.Access to the site will be blocked in Indiana starting June 27 and in Kentucky starting July 10. These bans affect all sites run by Pornhub parent company Aylo, formerly MindGeek—which includes YouPorn, RedTube, Brazzers, and more.
