This KVM switch works perfectly fine. Has two HDMI inputs, and HDMI output, and a responsive selector button. It even comes with a wired remote control if you don’t have easy access to the source selection button on the switch itself. I see this as something for a business setting, not for your average home user, but obviously anybody that wants to use one monitor between two systems would be able to use this.
The housing itself seems solid enough. The selector button is responsive. There’s a shorter delay when switching between devices than the switch it replaced, which is nice. It comes with all the cables you would need, although the HDMI and USB cables are separate and might be a little short, depending on how you have your computers setup relative to the desktop that your monitor is on. In the small IT room I tried it in, the included cables weren’t long enough forcing me to use the wired remote. The remote works fine, I just prefer not having a light thing that will move around the desk easily. The dongle for my wireless keyboard and mouse worked fine.
If you are a cable management freak, this MAY cause you issues. I say MAY because it’ll only matter if you actually use a wired keyboard and mouse or use the wired remote. I dislike having cables coming out of the front of a device. Everything in the rear just looks so much less cluttered. This of course does not have any affect on how the device actually functions, just personal preference.
I *DO* like the color scheme. I’m used to more industrial black KVM monstrosities, so without any wires coming out of the front besides the wireless USB dongle, it DOES look sleek and stylish. Doesn’t matter for an IT closet, but if it’s in regular view of customers or yourself, you’ll like it.
